Fear itself: Missing in action

Is there something there?

One of the most fearful things about war is not knowing the fate of your loved ones. With the dismantling of the ruling British regime, the Japanese Occupation brought in chaos and the unknowable.

Among military personnel present in during the Fall of Singapore, it is estimated 24,000 people are missing. The civilians were also not immune to such fates.

Mdm Sim Soo Wee recounted that her father was separated from her by the Japanese, and she never saw him again. No one witnessed what happened, and the Imperial Japanese did not provide a report about it.

Chen Zhao Hua lost his uncle during the war, with no indication of his fate.

Even today, there are organisations dedicated to find missing people of World War 2.
